  2. Thanks, Cejay! I'm happy you're still going strong as well!
  3. That is great slate. Somebody is going to be busy. If the fantastic Double Edge is any indication, Preemptive Maneuvers and Inevitability will be awesome. Are we moving into an Intrepid Golden Age, I wonder? Sweet!
  4. Chapter 12, the final chapter of "The Double Edge" is now complete! Currently posted at Trekbbs. I'm afraid I'm behind on posting the last two chapters to Ad Astra but I should have that done over the next week or so. In the meantime, you can now view the complete story at Trekbbs. As mentioned in my last post, the arc will conclude with "Preemptive Maneuvers". This will be followed by "Inevitability". From there, we'll move forward on the timeline to finish "Hydra's Arrow", an aborted tale that takes place well after the war and concerns UT's "Refugee Crisis / Vanguard" event. Finally, we have a series of "episodes" that will fall under the "Gamma Year" heading. These will detail Aubrey and company's adventures in the Gamma Quadrant during the year leading up to "Treacherous Waters". Whew. Also, watch this space for word on when my non-trek novel goes online: "Mankat: Book One, The Overthrow". Wait a minute. What the hell am I thinking? I can't do all this stuff! Panic attack is over, I'm all good now. Just need a few pills.... :0
  5. Michael Owens has always had a difficult relationship with his father, never having fully forgiven him for putting Starfleet before his family and playing puppet master with his career, very possibly even having arranged him getting his own command. But what does the estranged son do when his father comes to him with an urgent request he claims might decide the future of the galaxy itself? Captain Owens' homecoming will turn out to be anything than what he could have expected in Legacy. Now available in full at the TrekBBS and at Ad Astra.
  6. You Can't Go Home Again. That sentiment seems particularly true for DeMara Deen who fears that after years in Starfleet which have tested her pacifistic upbringing again and again, and never more so than during the last two years of war with the Dominion, she may no longer be accepted by her own kind. The truth, she discovers, is much more complicated. The third Homecoming vignette, When I Was a Child, is now available in full at the TrekBBS and at Ad Astra.
  7. Since the USS Bluefin patrols the borderland near Klingon and Orion space, I thought I'd provide a list of Orion terms I have used/may use in future stories. Feel free to use or add any for stories set in the United Trek universe. A brief glossary of Orion terms - Ah'met - 'Captain,' 'Leader' or 'Prince,' literally - Supreme. (Credit goes to Gibraltar for this one.) Ah'met-sur - Syndicate clan leader. 'Lord.' Literally - 'Grand Supreme.' Ahm’suka - term of respect for an elder, literally - 'Wise head.' Met'mat - Father Met'Sando - Adoptive father, literally - 'Near-father' Met'Chan - Mother Jih'mat - brother or male cousin Leh'mhin - sister or female cousin Chadoi - daughter Mehk - son Moi - child J'moi - children H'lajmoi - abandoned children, orphans Sundija - Orions not part of a Syndicate clan - basically serfs in a feudal system. Literally - 'Under-people' Sundrik - Non-Orion Slave Ah'm'sund'rikan - Slave master Hri'gun - rodent Vuut - an insult, roughly equivalent to 'fool' or 'idiot.' Slis'pul - a derogatory term, roughly equivalent to S.O.B. Kima - measurement of time, roughly one second Mekima - measurement of time, roughly one minute Jul - measurement of time, roughly one hour Slarndra - derogatory term for a red Orion (used by green Orions). Slis'jaka - an extremely vulgar term, worse than Slis'pul. Kleemat - a unit of measure, slightly longer than a kilometer Teuurn - Human Met'nahl - Clan or family Met'lorhalan - Syndicate Nal'klisa - bond sum to free a child of age from service with the syndicate, literally - 'free ransom.' V'ores'sur - Verex III - Orion homeworld - 'Place of the Clan.' V'ores'katul - Verex IV - the 'Place of no Souls' - the outcast planet shunned by the Syndicate. V'ores'dur - Orion afterlife, Hell. Shen'lur - Starship Klihn - Klingon Ah'njor - Andorian Tehl'rul - Tellarite Vuhlka - Vulcan Isha - Yes Ru - No Jeh - Go Nuh - Stop, Wait Reht - Obey Kehf - Hot beverage (coffee, raktajino) C'hav - Wound, injure C'hur - Kill Fet'jun - 'Federation' or 'Starfleet' R’uulk - Romulan Fehn'gur - Ferengi Kahrd'sa - Cardassian Grehlt - Monetary unit - coin, slip, credit, etc. J'Grehlt - Money, loot, treasure Lin'hur - Fight, struggle, combat Ser'chaan – Weapon, Phaser, Disruptor L’hak – Blade, knife
  8. And it's a kick in the ass. If anyone out there hasn't read this one yet, I highly recommend it. Ah, If only the cannon stories were always this intriguing...
  9. Lieutenant Commander Xylion and his close personal friend, the enigmatic bartender Bensu, return to Vulcan and to the place their extraordinary, life-long journey first began. Will this trip through space and time finally answer the many questions which have plagued them both for years? The second Homecoming vignette, Resurrection2, is now available in full at the TrekBBS and at Ad Astra.
  10. A look at some old and never-used cover and teaser art pieces in a small retrospective of 10 years or so of Star Eagle Adventures design history. 1. First off an early Star Eagle series promotional cover featuring the original Star Eagle logo. It prominently features the obviously Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation inspired intro which did in fact preface the first few novels before it was dropped entirely and subsequently removed from all stories. 2. Next is yet another early promotional cover, this time using the short-lived transitional logo featuring the spread eagle design before the introduction of the bald eagle head logo in use today. Interesting to note that this piece, including the tagline was recycled with the new logo, and can currently be found on the Ad Astra archive series page. 3. A very early concept teaser art cover for the sixth novel in the series. So early in fact, the story didn’t even have a name yet and the teaser still features the initial Star Eagle logo and is missing the blue banner which would eventually become standard on all Eagle covers. Eagle 6 eventually became Semper Fidelis. The tag line however was reused, slightly amended on the second teaser: “The war is over. The battle for peace has only just begun” . 4. The title and tagline remained the same for the finished story on this early version of the teaser for Eagle 5. The background and the angle of the ship eventually changed. Another mildly interesting note: Shadows in the Haze didn’t actually debut until late 2012. 5. The only teaser ever produced for the spin-off series Lower Deck Tales and clearly with an eye on the popular abbreviation craze. In hindsight not very smart considering the relatively obscure series title. 6. An unused teaser variation for the upcoming Quantum Divergence saga with the same shattered glass motif featured on the official teasers. 7. One of four Versus concept teasers for 2016’s Civil War novella. The other three variations can be found on StarEagleAdventures.com here. 8. A teaser variation for the current vignette series Homecoming, once again using the abbreviation concept (even though here it’s even more obscure). And while this version was shortly used on StarEagleAdventures.com, it was eventually removed and replaced with a very similar version when it became clear that a) Fall 2016 was becoming more like early 2017 and that’s not really the Earth we know. 9. An early cover concept for Homecoming which was dropped mostly in favor of the more evocative cemetery version. The image of San Fran in flames from Deep Space Nine is evocative in its own right and while these events are hinted at in Homecoming, none of the vignettes actually take place during or even immediately after the Dominion attack on Earth.
  11. The first main vignette in Homecoming is now available in full at the TrekBBS and Ad Astra. Join Lif Culsten and Louise Hopkins as they embark on the long journey to Culsten's remote homeworld on which he hasn't set foot on in years. As Louise is soon to discover, for very good reason. You can run from your past, but can you ever truly escape it? Find out in The Burden of Truth.
  12. Chapter 11 is now complete and up at Trekbbs. I should have the full chapter uploaded to Ad Astra sometime this weekend. Chapter 12 will be the final installment of this story, but the over all arc will complete in "Preemptive Maneuvers".
  13. Hey CeJay,

I had a question about your short story "The Enemy of My Enemy (is My Lover)". You mentioned a pro-Dominion (I think) Vice-Proconsul in that story. I wanted to include that character in a follow up to "Conspirata" (in my Romulan cycle of DT stories). I didn't see if the VP had a name or a gender. I was thinking the VP was male.

My take on him was that the VP was pro-Dominion but fell in line and supported the war against the Dominion. Now, postwar the VP wants to keep all territorial gains and wants to crack down on the Remans. My intention is to have Reman renegades attempt to assassinate him at a meeting involving Allied dignitaries.

If you have a name, physical description for the Vice-Proconsul? Thanks.

    1. Cejay

Just looked over that story, no name or description was given, so feel free to use the character anyway you like.

    2. DarKush

      Thanks CeJay.

  14. you guys have no shared timeline anymore?
  15. Chapter 11, part 1 is now up Trekbbs. Once the chapter is fully completed, it will go to Ad Astra.
  16. I intend too.
  17. Thanks, Pior, glad you enjoyed the story. Particularly considering that I put together the concept really quickly, which normally is not something I tend to do. Hope you'll enjoy Homecoming as much.
  18. This was a brilliant story CJ, and am thrilled you've written it the way you dis. Want more.
  19. The crew of the Starship Eagle returns to Earth for the first time in years and after the long war fighting the Dominion. The battered ship is overdue for an extensive overhaul but more importantly, the mentally and physically exhausted crew is desperate for well deserved shore leave. Homecoming is the third installment of the Eagle Vignette Series and features ten short stories, each following one or more characters from the Star Eagle Adventures as they face a different set of challenges. It is also the second and final story in the Road to Quantum Divergence series which will lead to the Quantum Divergence trilogy event which is due later in the year. Now posting at the TrekBBS and Ad Astra.
  20. Oh, yeah. I hadn't realized you referenced "Wayward Son" until now. Thanks!
  21. Hey CeJay, Thanks for adding Conspirata to the other anniversary stories.
  22. "Conspirata" is posted in full at TrekBBS. http://www.trekbbs.com/threads/ut10-dark-territory-conspirata.285529/#post-11868652
  23. Thanks CeJay and Happy Holidays, I wrote "Obscura" a long time ago and was retooling it to make it more in line with where I want to go today, but the story that became "Conspirata" took hold and then it just grew. It's a large story that might actually connect to an even bigger mega-story. I hope to get back to "Obscura" but it will change due to what happens with "Conspirata" and the new ideas and direction the story has generated.
  24. Outstanding, looking forward to get my teeth into this over the next few days! Quick question, what does this mean for Obscura? Will you be able to continue to work on that? I really liked that story. Hope you are having a great holidays season!
  25. Happy Holidays everyone! I've just posted the start of my UT 10 celebration story, called "Conspirata" at Trek BBS. http://www.trekbbs.com/threads/ut10-dark-territory-conspirata.285529/
  26. Yo, Chapter 10 now showing at Trekbbs. Soon to appear at Ad Astra.
